Meet Dr Kathryn Meeks, PT, DPT, CIE

Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Ergonomist
My story is not much different than many others. I was not exactly sure what I wanted to be when I grew up until I learned about the field of physical therapy (PT). I was very fortunate to meet a wonderful mentor early in my career who taught me to take risks, never stop learning, and to give back. This was advise, which served me well as I grew into my career and built my own business.
I started my own business right before our daughter was born. In fact, she was born premature by almost three months, and I had to work hard to keep my business going while taking care of her. A twist in my story comes when we learned that our daughter was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP), a non-progressive neurological condition that affects the motion of the individual. It was quite ironic; here I am, a person who studies motion, and my daughter has some of the biggest challenges with motion. People would often ask me if I became involved in PT and ergonomic because she had CP. The answer was no, it just happened. So my passion for optimal motion grew as I saw the challenges my daughter faced and how so many able-bodied individuals did not understand motion or did not know how to maintain good motion.
